Overview

Livermore is a nearly unpopulated town in Grafton County within the White Mountain National Forest, a former logging community that was largely abandoned after its mill closed in the 1940s. Today it exists primarily as a place name within the surrounding forest.

The area within Livermore's boundaries is almost entirely forested and managed as part of the White Mountain National Forest, offering hiking and access to the Sawyer River corridor. There is no commercial development or services within the town.

With a population of only a handful of residents, Livermore is not a practical place to live in any conventional sense, existing mainly as a geographic and administrative curiosity within the White Mountains.
