Living in Milton

Milton sits on the Maine border in Strafford County, encompassing several villages including Milton Mills and the area around the Three Ponds. The town's mill-era buildings reflect a manufacturing history similar to other river towns along the Salmon Falls River watershed. Milton's ponds provide swimming and fishing close to home, while the town's rural character and border location keep it quieter than the busier Rochester and Somersworth areas to the south. A modest commercial presence covers everyday needs. Housing in Milton remains affordable relative to the Seacoast, drawing families and retirees seeking small-town, border-region living. The town's proximity to both New Hampshire and Maine job markets provides some commuting flexibility.
